I’d like to transfer to the new date, but I am unsure yet if I will be able to attend on that weekend, as it is still so far away. What happens if I find out I cannot attend at a later date?

If you transfer your package to 2021, you will be able to cancel your booking and receive a full refund at any time before 1st October 2020. After this point our normal booking conditions  will apply. We will confirm the 2021 exact dates before this deadline.

My group wants to pick different options, can we do this?

We will be taking into account the responses of each group member and will do our best to accommodate groups in different sizes for the option of transferring your package to 2021 and refunding guests where applicable.

I have paid the deposit only so how will the refund be applied and when do I need to make the balance payment?

The 15% refund will be added as a discount to the balance payment. The balance payment will then be reset to be due 3 months before the new event dates.

Will my transfers and bike hire still be valid if I defer?

Your airport transfer and bike hire bookings will be transferred along with your festival accommodation package.

When will I receive my refund?

Refunds will be processed within 28 days of receiving confirmation of your refund request.

Will my hotel option still be available in 2021?

Yes - we will be operating with the same hotels as this year.

Will the line-up be the same?

Where possible we intend to replicate - or even better - this year’s line up, However at this stage we cannot confirm the bill for next year.

Why is there not yet a confirmed date for the festival now it is moving to 2021?

We are working hard with our partners in Saalbach to confirm exact dates for the festival for 2021. As the current coronavirus crisis is moving so quickly we believe that it is sensible to wait a little longer so we can assess the impact that the postponement and rescheduling of other events (including major events like the Tokyo Olympics, but also smaller regional events in Austria) will have on the Global Bike Festival.

This could impact on the availability of venues and equipment, but also could affect the availability of riders, presenters and staff. We want to ensure that we can deliver the best, most exciting event we can, so we will wait a little longer to ensure we can stage the event on the most suitable weekend. We’ll confirm the new date as soon as we can, and will make sure this allows you plenty of time to decide if that date is suitable for you.

Saalbach is easy to reach, with good road links to Germany, the wider Austrian region, eastern Europe and Italy. Parking options vary from hotel to hotel - parking options will be highlighted on each hotel page. We recommend car-sharing wherever possible.

Please see our travel page for more information.

Can I cycle to the event?

Yes! We’d love you to ride to the event, although at this time there are no official rides planned to the festival so this would need to be unsupported. If you are planning to ride to the event, we’d appreciate it if you could let us know in advance by contacting us at info@globalbikefestival.com.

Will I be able to ride with the presenters?

Yes, there will be scheduled rides with the presenters, Spokes coaches and special guests that you’ll be able to join.

Are the routes marked out?

All of the routes are clearly marked and designed to enable riders to explore and ride at their own pace.

I’m coming alone, what are my options?

We’re expecting quite a few solo travellers to attend Global Bike Festival. Many of the hotels have single room options that you can book. There will also be lots of opportunities to meet your fellow festival-goers throughout the event.

Is Global Bike Festival suitable for all abilities?

Yes, there are lots of different routes which riders can explore and ride at their own pace and intensity. Please be aware that the Saalbach region is a mountainous area and some routes and events (both on and off-road) will include long, strenuous climbs and fast, technical descents. Participation in all rides and events is optional.

Will the rides be supported?

Different rides and routes will have different levels of support, but all rides and routes (MTB, Road and Gravel) will have designated feed / support stops where assistance will be available. Roaming mechanical support will be available where geography allows but please be aware that for some off-road routes it may not be possible to get support to you directly or quickly. You should always plan to have enough kit and spares to be as self-sufficient as it is possible to be. Medical support will be available on all routes, and all customers will be issued with emergency contact numbers and / or tracking.

Do I need a race licence to compete in timed and / or competitive events?

You do not need a race licence to compete, but riders may be assessed to establish appropriate levels of competence and fitness prior to acceptance of entry into the race. Some events may have pre-event qualification (for example, a qualifying time may need to be set over a given course in order to gain entry to an event). We want to ensure the timed events are accessible to as many customers as possible, but in some circumstances the event organiser may refuse entry to the event.

Can I download a festival map?

Festival maps and ride routes will be available to download closer to the event.

Can I download a schedule of events?

A schedule of events will be available closer to the event.

Can I bring my partner and / or children?

Saalbach is a fantastic location for a family break, with lots of activities and attractions for partners and children. If you are planning on bringing partners or children who do not require festival access, please contact us at info@globalbikefestival.com to discuss your accommodation requirements.

Is there an age restriction for the event?

Due to the nature of the routes and geography of the region, we do not recommend this event for riders under the age of 16. Customers aged 17 and under will need to be supervised by adults aged 18 and over at all times. Some event venues will have their own licence conditions and may refuse entry to customers under the age of 18, so we cannot guarantee entry to all Global Bike Festival events for customers under 18. Proof of age may be requested at any time.

Can I bring my dog or pet?

Dogs (or other pets) are not permitted on Global Bike Festival rides and at events. Individual hotels will have their own policies regarding pets - please check before booking your package. While it is generally a dog-friendly country, do not assume that Austrian customs and laws regarding pets are the same as your home country, so please check before you book.

Will alcohol be on sale at the event?

Alcohol will be on sale at most event venues, including the Event Village. Purchase of alcohol will be age-restricted at all venues and proof of age may be required.

What are you doing to limit the environmental impact of the event?

Large scale events have an inevitable impact due to a number of factors, including transport of customers, staff and equipment, energy requirements, waste and refuse, single use plastics, food and beverage impacts and more. We are working closely with our suppliers and hosts to minimise this impact.

We recommend that all customers look at how they can reduce their personal impact while attending the event, including looking at alternative public transport options including rail travel; car sharing and bus or coach travel; avoiding single-use plastics; being careful with litter; and recycling wherever possible.

Do I need to register when I arrive at the event?

Yes, you will need to come to the registration area in the Event Village (times to be confirmed). At registration you will be issued with a festival wristband which will allow you access into the various venues, events, parties, races and onto group rides.
