SD Worx in action during last year's Vuelta Femenina team time trial

The Vuelta Femenina gets underway this Sunday afternoon with an opening team time trial. The stage 1 TTT in Valencia is 16km in length, largely untechnical on an out-and-back course.

Though team time trials are becoming increasingly rare in cycling, there will be a lot of motivation to win this stage, with the first red jersey and a leading margin up for grabs for the first rider to finish from the fastest team. However, with most teams fairly unpracticed in this discipline, it will be an open competition as to who can put together the best TTT effort.

The action gets underway at 15:56 local time (CEST) with Team Coop-Repsol, and the 21 teams will go in three-minute increments until the last team off the ramp, Movistar at 16:56.

Among the favourites for the stage will be Lidl-Trek, SD Worx-Protime and Canyon-SRAM, who all go in the final four, just before Movistar.
